Spiritually grounded people live more fulfilled lives. They recover better from illnesses and/or are less stressed by them. Spirituality is the way we discover meaning, find hope, security, and inner peace in our lives. Some people equate spirituality with religion; some find it in the arts – music, paintings, drama; while some commune with nature to find spiritual meaning in life. The question you might ask is, how is this concept related to whole health? There is no clear-cut answer. However, it appears that the body, mind, and spirit are linked elements. Thus, the healthiness or unhealthiness of any one of these components seems to affect the others.
Research reveals an association between our beliefs and our sense of well-being. Positive feelings, hopefulness, and security gained from religion, from our meditation, and from our prayers can contribute to well-being, possibly even prevent some health problems.
